The last few weeks have been crazy. Cara and I have thought of every possible thing that we could think of about The Race to the Altar. Over a month ago, the process began with a twenty-two page application, and every step of the way since has been equally as comprehensive and meticulous.
This was followed by all the waiting periods. What I mean is the periods of time that we were waiting to see if we made the top 16, 10 and then 5. Work, family activities, and even breathing in some cases, all came in a distant second to our thoughts of making the next cut.
Then, last night walking with Cara through Times Square I realized something. THAT WE MADE THE TOP FIVE!!! We are on a free vacation to New York City. We get to be on the TODAY Show and experience something a lot of people never will. I realized that I was having an amazing time with my best friend and love of my life. She gets to see not only a new place, but one of my favorite places in the world.
What I realized more than anything is that if we keep thinking about making the next cut, or what our challenges are going to be, or who our competition is, we are going to miss it. We decided that we are both so excited about being here that we are going to pay attention to every detail and soak it all in. Best case scenario, we win the Race to the Altar and we get married in two months; worst case we got to see New York and we get married next April. Either way, I end up marrying my best friend, so I don’t see how this could end imperfectly.
